Like many others have said, if everything goes smoothly, then it’s fine. But customers should be aware that just because they say you’re flying with Singapore Airways, it doesn’t mean you’ll actually be on one of their aircraft. For the trip from Singapore to Sydney and back, you’re stuck on a SCOOT plane (think Ryanair) for a long 7-hour flight, and there’s no entertainment to speak of. They only serve original Coke or water with the meal, and forget about dessert. No water is offered during the flight either. I even asked for pillows since we both wanted something to sit on because those seats are hard as rocks. Seriously, steer clear of this option. I heard from other folks on our cruise who took a different route to avoid this hassle, some even went with Emirates.

I just got a response from them after posting this review. They claimed I’d be on a Singapore plane for the return trip, but I’m not holding my breath. I’ll update my rating after the return flight if that turns out to be true. I really think Singapore Airways should ensure that when they partner with another airline, the service quality matches their own standards.

I’ve updated this review because I feel a bit more assured that we’ll be flying back on a Singapore plane. Still, I maintain that using SCOOT for a 7-hour journey, along with everything I mentioned earlier, just doesn’t cut it.
